Dewsweeper writes in and wants some suggestions on how to play better in wind.

Obviously hit the ball lower you can do this by playing ball slightly back in your stance. Be careful not to over do this. I also prefer to get the shaft leaning more forard and the club de lofted bu learning to get your chest more forward at impact

Biggest mistake I see made is trying to hit shots harder into the wind. More speed means more spin which means the ball will go higher and get more out of control.

Try less club and less arm speed which will result in less spin and more control.

Don’t under estimate the wind. Always allow for more than you think.

Play the corss wind. It has a great effect on the balla swell. And remember down wind allow for run out of the ball.

If I am a good putter should I Change?

Dewsweeper writes in that they are a very good putter but they recently were video’d and saw that they tendend to aim left and push there putts. They use shot by shot and are excellent at making putts should they worry and try and change.

NO NO NO
Listen the only thing they ask you about when you finish is what you shot.

Putting is about getting the ball on line or started where you think you are lined up and confidence.

Not everyone has to putt or swing the same. If you are a good putter and can do it every time don’t change. Believe in yourself and make putts.

My swing is better am I done working on it?

Dewsweeper writes in now that my golf swing is better on video and hitting it better what should I work on this year? Am I done with the work to do?

Youw ill never be done working on your golf game. There will be constant refininement in order to improve consistency and accuracy.

If you arent improving you are getting worse!

Monitor fundamentals because your tendencies and errors always tend to drift back.
Use round tracking know where strokes are going. This will allow you to better structure your practice schedule and lessons to wotk on your weaknesses to improve your scoring.

Look into fitness and mental approach.

Learn different scoring shots and ways to be more versatile when hitting into difficult situations.

How do you fix your bad swings on the golf course?

A Dewsweeper writes in and asks about how to fix there bad swings on the golf course?

I think one thing that is critical in learning to score better is that you need to learn to identify what you are working on with your teacher and associate what the correct motion FEELS like. Then when you go to the golf course try and make your golf swings FEEL that way.
Don’t try and fix your bad swings try and make good swings.

Understand what in your golf swing you do that makes it a good swing
Learn what it feels like to make that move.

Keep trying to make good swing. When you hit a bad shot know you didn’t do it. Keep trying to make it feel like a good swing

What do I start every lesson with?

A question came in from a dewsweeper that asks is there something I start every lesson with?

I think that there are alot of ways to swing the golf club but that to be successful and improve you have to have certain charachteristics and fundamentals. The most important one and the place I start every time is with the grip.
I learned early on that most everything that goes wrong starts with a bad grip. If you try and fix any thing else first you are just fixing the symptoms. So don’t try to fix the symptons start with the cause.

Every dewsweeper should start their practice session with a grip check too.
Learn to be more precise. Dont be haphazard. Tour players take time each and every time they PLACE their hands on the club. Here are a few keys

Club goes at the base of the fingers, under the heel pad and the v's of the thumbs and index finger should point to your right eye!

How to Use a Mirror in the Offseason?

A question comes in about how to effectively use a mirror during the offseason and inside to help his game.
You can practice multiple things for your swing inside. Most notably and importantly are your path or swing plane and your club face position.

Checking and working on your plane. Mark a spot on the floor where you will satnd eacha nd every time. Take your 7 iron and and get in your address position. Have someone take a dry erase marker and trace your golf club shaft in the mirror or you might want to use a piece of tape. Now make slow motion back swing rehearssals tracing the line or tape going back. This will help you learn to swing the club more up the plane on your backswing.

Position at the top and club face. Rehears your backswings and check and make sure that your left wrist is flat and that your club face is square (45 degree angle) at the top.

All done very slow speeds and I prefer with a weighted club.

This actually can put you ahead of where you thought you would be because without the ball you can do perfect repetitions each and every time!
